September Mission
Boys Home

For 104 years, Boys Home has been providing residential care and education for boys ages 6 to 18 who are socially and economically disadvantaged. No child is turned away due to their family’s inability to pay. It takes over $500.00 PER CHILD to provide these young men with clothes, underwear, shoes, and school supplies for the year. By Providing residential education, the Boys Home continues to focus on socially and economically disadvantaged young men aged 6 to 18. They operate with 97% private funds, so your donations are important.

Lectionary Lunch—will resume on Thursday, September 12 at 12:00.

The annual parish picnic will be on September 15 after the 10:30 service at Bisset Park's pavilion 2. Hot dogs, hamburgers and buns will be provided. Please bring a dish to share. There will be a signup sheet in the Parish Hall for side dishes.

Preparing for Next Sunday

Jeremiah 4:11-12, 22-28
Psalm 14
1 Timothy 1:12-17
Luke 15:1-10

Sobering words of judgment are heard in next week’s lesson from Jeremiah, with its vivid depiction of the devastating, chaos, and gloom that result from invading armies. An equally gloomy view of humankind is also presented in Psalm 14, although it holds out hope for the poor and oppressed. In the epistolary reading from 1 Timothy, the first of a cycle of semicontinuous readings from First and Second Timothy over the next six weeks, we hear Paul reminiscing about the mistakes of his past and his experience of divine mercy. The parables from Luke of the lost sheep and the lost coin - both emphasizing the rejoicing that occurs when sinners repent - serve as the Gospel lesson for this 14th Sunday after Pentecost.
