November Mission
Elf Shelf
Elf Shelf volunteers are already busy preparing for the 2018 toy distribution.  In just a few weeks, December 7-8, parents will arrive to pick out Christmas gifts for their children. They will also receive a food voucher based on family size which will provide a holiday meal for their family. Contributions to Elf Shelf can be made in several ways. Financial contributions can be placed in the collection plate on Sunday (please mark contributions as "Elf Shelf") or can be sent to Radford Elf Shelf, PO Box 358, Radford, VA 24143. If you would like to donate new toys, please leave them in the Christmas donation box on the stage.
Grace Church continues to be responsible for staffing the Friday afternoon shift, December 7th, 1:00-4:00.  We need 15 people to help with a variety of tasks.......helping parents shop, re-stocking the tables as gifts are chosen, checking parents in as they arrive, and bagging the gifts.  It's a fun few hours of sharing the spirit of giving as you help parents provide Christmas for their children.  There's lots of smiles, laughter, and music in this room filled with toys and gifts.  Please call Diana Jordan 639-0809 if you are able to help.
Thank you!
Put November Monthly Mission in the memo line of your check. Thank you.
The Parish Office will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday November 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Virginia Interfaith Center

According to the Dept. of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), between Oct. 29, and Nov 3, the CoverVA call center took 19,000 calls and helped 3200 people file applications for Medicaid expansion.

On Nov 5 and 6, DMAS received 7500 paper applications based on the letters they sent to folks believed to be eligible.

VICPP’s publicity and press conferences contributed to this success. Special thanks to our dedicated volunteers who organized events in Harrisonburg, Richmond, Roanoke, Williamsburg and Winchester.

Now’s the time to figure out what more you can do to help with outreach.

- Share info. about Medicaid expansion in your congregation’s bulletin or newsletter.  Download the info here

- Distribute info to people receiving services at soup kitchens, food banks or shelters
Send congregational leaders to an Assister Training to learn how to “assist” people in applying.  Click here to see the scheduled trainings.
- Host an enrollment event at your congregation
